One of the worst things that can happen on pageant day is realizing you forgot to pack something you need and you are miles away from home! As someone who has competed in her fair share of pageants, it is so easy to forget something you may need. You have tons of things to pack, your mind is racing and you may start to get nervous as pageant day approaches. Starting to pack weeks ahead and making a list can be a huge help. However, you can still forget essentials. So here are 5 things you may forget on pageant day!
1. Safety Pins- Safety pins can be a life saver on pageant day! They are great for helping to secure your wardrobe for quick fixes. I can't count the amount of times I've been to a pageant and, there were girls looking for safety pins. Being prepared for the unexpected will save you from stressing out, and put your focus on competing.
2. Something to mark your wardrobe or belongings with - During pageant weekend, you will most likely be in a dressing with the room, with a lot of other contestants. You may have an assigned area for your belongings but, there is a good chance you wont. Things can easily be misplaced or confused for someone else's. YES someone else may have the same exact swimsuit or gown...I know that can be horrific but, it always happens. You don't want to get your wardrobe confused because you didn't have your initials somewhere on your tags. Also if you make semifinals, your wardrobe may be pulled backstage. The pageant attendants will need to know what items are yours clearly.
3. Clothing Tape- It may sound weird and you might think to yourself, "Why do I need that? ", and "its not that important if I don't bring it".WRONG! I realized quickly when I didn't have clothing tape on pageant weekend, it was something I needed. Its the worst to go to a pageant and not have something you need or have to ask someone to borrow something. They may help you out, but don't count on that. Clothing tape or body tape, can come in handy for securing your swimsuit. No matter your bust size, there may be a chance of something peaking out your swimsuit top. I'm sure you don't want the judges and strangers to see something they did not intend to see. It happens to girls all the time. Don't be that girl and avoid this embarrassing moment. Body tape is also great to hold up strapless or low cut gowns.
4. Lotion or Vaseline- or whatever you may use to keep your skin looking moisturized. I personally love the shine Vaseline gives on my skin. However, it can potentially leave an oily residue on your wardrobe so be careful when applying this, or just avoid it all together. You would be surprised how easily you can forget this when packing your suitcase to leave.
5. Backup wardrobe options: This can be optional. Everyone may not have back up gowns or swimsuits. However, if you do and can bring it, BRING IT! Anything can happen and you can never be too prepared. You may spill something or rip something. I have heard pageant horror stories; someone's swimsuit disappeared and someones gown was intentionally ruined by other contestants (this happened in a different country...yikes!). You may not have these dire circumstances but on pageant weekend its good to be prepared for the unexpected.
I hope these tips were useful and you don't forget something major on pageant day like I have before.
Till next time .....
