Me, again!
It’s everyone’s (okay, maybe just mine) favorite time of year; pageant season! Whether it’s local, state or national competitions, there’s always something to watch and keep up with on social media. Can you tell I’m excited? No, not yet? Okay- keep reading.

We kicked off the season with an unbelievable Miss USA pageant, where Kàra McCollough from District of Columbia was crowned, making her the second woman from District of Columbia to win this pageant in two years. It was incredibly tough competition, and we wish her all the love and luck in the world throughout her year of reign and at Miss Universe!

But, all of the wonderful ladies who we watched compete onstage have equally beautiful Teen Queens, and their pageant is quickly approaching! The Miss Teen USA pageant will be held at the end of July, in Arizona. (Can’t watch? No worries- I’ll be live tweeting finals!)

It was incredibly difficult to choose 15 young ladies- they are all amazing, and shine in their own ways! As always, all of these photos are courtesy of the Miss Teen USA website, respectively, and in no way do these predictions have any affiliation with the competition, nor does the article have any bearing on the actual winner. These are solely based off of headshots- so without further ado, in alphabetical order, here are my Top 15 predictions for Miss Teen USA!

(AL: Claire Scott, AR: Allison Tucker, CA:Jaanu  Patel)

(DE: Grace Lange, KY:Olivia Prewitt, LA: Hailey Crausby)

(MA: Caitlyn Martin, MS:Hannah Chisolm, NV: Alexis Smith)

(NC: Kenzie Hansley, PA: Lauren Ann Weaver , RI:  Alexa Papigiotis)

(SC: Alexis Johnson, TN:Megan Ski Hollingsworth , VT: Kelsea Golonka )

As always, there were so many unbelievable young women vying for this prestigious title. I do not envy the judges this year; they have such a difficult job, as they always do. The competitors are not only beautiful-but in this mix there are students, dancers, volunteers, a CNA, a barrel racer, and a certified cosmetologist, to name a few of their impressive accolades. These girls are smart, talented and compassionate towards those around them- and those are most certainly traits that make a woman #ConfidentlyBeautiful!

To all the ladies competing- take in every moment. It has been two years (!) since I competed at Miss High School America, and had the time of my life. Have fun, laugh and take pictures, and of course, good luck, and God bless.

As a girl that has competed in several pageants throughout the years, I cant tell you how many times I had to explain this. If you are someone who competes in pageants, at some point you will be asked "Whats the difference between Miss USA and Miss America?" That question may be phrased as "Whats the difference?" or "Isn't that the same thing?" Inside you may roll your eyes , and be secretly annoyed. Also there is a chance you will have to explain it more then once.

To answer the question simply...YES, there is a difference. People tend yo get confused with both pageant systems for the following reasons:
  • They both come on TV every year
  • Both systems represent the United States of America
  • Both systems consist of state titleholders and national titleholders
  • The contestants are gorgeous!!!!
I do understand how confusing it can be for someone who isn't familiar with pageants, and only may think of pageants when they see both pageants on TV once a year. Both pageants are similar , but they have very clear cut differences. Here are the differences:

  •  Miss America is a scholarship and talent based organization
  • Miss USA there is no talent competition (not that the contestants aren't talented)
  • Miss America has local pageants. Contestant MUST win a local pageant before competing at the state level.
  • Miss USA , some state pageant systems do incorporate local pageants but, this is not a must for every state. (Ive competed in NJ, they don't require you to compete in a local to compete for your state.)
  • Miss America currently airs on ABC every year
  • Miss USA/UNIVERSE will air on FOX. For years it aired on NBC, but that has recently changed.
  • Miss America does not have a international pageant component. Miss America is the highest title.
  •  Miss USA , is apart of the Miss UNIVERSE organization. After you win Miss USA , you go on to compete for Miss UNIVERSE.
  •  Miss America started in 1921
  • Miss USA started in 1952

These are just some of the differences, but there are more. Hopefully this helped you understand the difference between the two popular pageant systems.

The next time someone asks you this question , you can throw them a couple of facts lol.

Till next time.....
